All about the blooms

Kali Rabaut is a serial entrepreneur, artist and teacher.

Blue House Florals proudly feayures locally grown flowers. Frustrated with the narrow definition of cut flowers, Kali encourages her customers to ponder what is beautiful and what is valued. She grows traditional cut flower favorites, as well as incorporating native and Florida-friendly flowers as well.

Kali always thought it would be freakin’ awesome to be a farmer-florist someday when she retires. While 2020 was tough for everyone, Kali’s younger brother passed away, a sobering reminder that we can’t always count on tomorrow. But like the flowers remind her daily, it’s the ephemeral nature of life that makes it so beautiful. She knows he would be proud of her.

About the Garden

Grown on residential lots in Tampa Heights, all flowers are lovingly grown using sustainable, organic practices. No pesticides, or plants that could be toxic to your pets or little ones are ever used.

Just blocks away from the Tampa Riverwalk, sunflowers and cosmos dance in the wind to catch glimpses of the downtown skyline. An abundance of local blooms are grown intensively on about 3,000 square feet. Heavily mulched layers of compost and mulch break down with the help of earth worms and microbes to create colorful, healthy, bright blooms. There are chickens, vegetables, a wide variety of native and Florida friendly plants, and a garden cat.

The garden is on the ancestral lands of the Tocobaga and Seminole people and I recognize them as the original and best stewards of this land.

Blue House Florals offers wedding florals, special occasion deliveries, subscription bouquets, as well as floral workshops. Email Kali@bluehousefloralstampa.com to bring more blooms to your life.
